SKS Airways orders 10 Embraer E195-E2s

Malaysia’s SKS Airways has chosen the Embraer E195-E2, the world’s most efficient and quietest single-aisle aircraft, to drive its growth plans for the region. The deal for 10 E195-E2s was announced at a signing ceremony at the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA’23).

The E195-E2s will form the core of SKS Airways’ expansion plans and will be based at Kuala Lumpur’s city airport, Subang, from 2024.

The E195-E2 jet has a range of 2,600nm, the equivalent of about seven hours of flight. The aircraft will be comfortably configured with 136 seats.

SKS Airways will be the first E195-E2 operator in the Southeast Asian region, growing Embraer’s E-Jets presence in the broader Asia Pacific region which currently stands close to 200. SKS Airways are Island flight specialists operating Twin Otters aircrafts – ideal for short take-offs and landings (STOL) airports. Embraer and Azorra seal deal with Royal Jordanian Airlines for eight new E2 Jets

Embraer and commercial aviation lessor Azorra today announced a new eight aircraft deal with Royal Jordanian Airlines, Jordan’s flag carrier.

The agreement will see the introduction of both the E190-E2 and E195-E2 to the airline’s fleet. Aircraft deliveries are expected to begin in Q4 2023.

The agreement covers eight commercial aircraft, four E190-E2 and four E195-E2, with a list price value of $635M.

Six aircraft, four E190-E2 and two E195-E2 come from Azorra’s existing backlog with Embraer. Two further E195-E2s are firm orders with Embraer directly from the airline, which were added to Embraer’s Q4 2022 backlog as ‘undisclosed’.

Breeze Airways to end the Westchester County/White Plains – Los Angeles route on September 4

Breeze Airways is finding flying transcontinental nonstop routes can be a challenge.

The airline will terminate the Westchester County/White Plains – Los Angeles route on September 4 citing high costs to operate the route.

LOT Polish Airlines to launch the Krakow – Istanbul route, introduces an Itaka Travel Agency logo jet

LOT Polish Airlines has announced it will launch a Krakow ­­­- Istanbul route. The first flight to Turkey’s largest city is scheduled for April.

The first aircraft travelling from the capital of Małopolska to the city on the Bosphorus will take off on April 27, 2023 at 5:10 pm and will land in Istanbul at 8:30 pm local time. Connections on this route will be operated by Embraer 195.

The aeroplane from Istanbul to Krakow will take off at 9:20 pm, and its scheduled landing at the destination airport is at 10:20 pm local time. Flights in both directions will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

In other news, LOT has introduced a Itaka Travel Agency logo jet on Boeing 737-8 MAX 8 SP-LVL.

Air New Zealand and Embraer to collaborate on Next Gen sustainable aircraft programs

Air New Zealand has signed an agreement with Embraer to join its Energia Advisory Group – a group of airlines, lessors, manufacturers and other aviation experts advising Embraer’s Energia project developing sustainable aircraft for the future.

Embraer also becomes a long term partner in Air New Zealand’s Mission Next Gen Aircraft initiative, working alongside Air New Zealand to accelerate the development and introduction of zero emissions aircraft technology for regional fleet in New Zealand.

The companies will work together on the design requirements for next-generation sustainable aircraft. Air New Zealand is a unique airline with complex mission and fleet requirements with significant domestic business, connecting customers and cargo to 20 different regions around New Zealand.

Star Air adds its first Embraer 175

Star Air of India signed a lease in December for two more Embraer E175 passenger jets with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC). 

These two aircraft are in addition to the two Embraer E175 jet orders signed at the Farnborough International Airshow, UK in August 2022. The first of these four aircraft orders has now arrived in January 2023.

Focussing on establishing a fleet of Embraer aircraft to improve regional connectivity, the E175 is powered by GE CF34-8E engines which continue to set the standard in terms of reliability and performance in the regional jet segment having surpassed 200 million hrs in operations, has no middle seats, and provides best-in-class legroom in a dual-class cabin configuration. With a flying range of 2,200 nautical miles, Star Air is set to fly longer, faster, and smoother. Currently flying over 19 destinations across India, the airline is geared to expand its regional presence. 

Currently, the airline operates scheduled flights using its 5 Embraer E145 to connect 19 Indian destinations that include Ahmedabad, Ajmer (Kishangarh), Bengaluru, Belagavi, Delhi (Hindon), Hubballi, Indore, Jodhpur, Kalaburagi, Mumbai, Surat, Tirupati, Jamnagar, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Bhuj, Bidar, and Kolhapur.
