Wizz Air expands in Warsaw and Katowice

Wizz Air has announced further expansion to its base in Warsaw, where it allocates one of its Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The allocation of the new aircraft is enabling the launch of one new route to Agadir, Morocco, as well as increased frequency on 13 routes from Warsaw.

The allocation of one more aircraft to Wizz Air’s Warsaw base will grow the base to eleven aircraft. The move brings the number of routes from the base to 58, including the launch of Agadir from Poland’s capital city.

Furthermore, the additional capacity allows Wizz Air to increase frequency of its flights from the base to Alicante, Barcelona, Basel, Brussels Charleroi, Copenhagen, Eindhoven, Malaga, Milan Bergamo, Nice, Oslo Sandefjord Torp, Rome, Tenerife and Valencia.

In other news, Wizz Air has announced two new routes from Katowice Airport, i.e. Copenhagen and Alicante. Both destinations have been scheduled to launch during the “Winter 2023/2024” season.

Flights to Copenhagen will commence on October 29, 2023. The route will be handled four times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The first flight to Alicante will take place on October 31, 2023. The route will be available three times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Flights to Copenhagen will be handled with a 239 seats Airbus A321neo, while flights to Alicante will be served with a 180 seats Airbus A320ceo.

MGA-Mavi Gök Airlines debuts at Katowice Airport

In the night from April 25 to 26, 2023, a 339 seats Boeing 777-300ER, property of Mavi Gök, a Turkish charter airline, took 325 passengers to Antalya, Turkey. Consequently, the carrier has debuted at Katowice Airport.

MGA-Mavi Gök Airlines is the property of Anex Tour, a Turkish touristic consortium. During the “Summer 2023” season, Mavi Gök Airlines aircraft will handle charter flights connecting Katowice Airport and Antalya on behalf of the Polish division of the Anex Group, i.e. the Orex Travel by Anex travel agency. In order to do so, the airline will utilize wide-body aircraft (Boeing 777-300ER), as well as narrow-body aircraft (Boeing 737-800/Boeing 757-300). Welcome Airport Services sp. z o.o. is responsible for providing ground handling of Mavi Gök Airlines aircraft at Katowice Airport.

Anex Tour Group, which was founded over 20 years ago, is the biggest touroperator in Turkey, and one of the biggest touroperators in Germany. Currently, it has offices in nearly 40 countries around the world. In addition to its own airline, the group also owns a hotel chain in Turkey. Anex Group is present in Poland since 2015.

Wizz Air to fly from Katowice to Yerevan

Wizz Air has announced the launch of flights from Katowice Airport to the capital of Armenia: Yerevan. The first flight is scheduled to take place on 29 April 2023 (Saturday). The route will be available twice a week: initially on every Wednesday and Saturday, and on every Wednesday and Sunday from mid-June. The route will be available throughout the year.

As part of the “Summer 2023” schedule, Wizz Air currently offers 33 routes to 20 countries at Katowice Airport, i.e. Albania (Tirana), Armenia (Yerevan), Bulgaria (Burgas), Croatia (Split), Cyprus (Larnaca), Greece (Athens, Corfu), Georgia (Kutaisi), Montenegro (Podgorica), Spain (Barcelona, Castellon, Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Palma De Mallorca, Malaga, Tenerife), the Netherlands (Eindhoven), Iceland (Keflavik), Israel (Tel Aviv), Malta, Germany (Dortmund), Norway (Bergen, Oslo-Torp), Portugal (Madeira), Sweden (Malmo), the United Kingdom (Bristol, Liverpool, London-Luton, Leeds-Bradfort), Italy (Catania, Naples, Rome-Ciampino) and the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi). Wizz Air debuted at Katowice Airport in May 2004. Since then, the carrier has handled over 23 million travellers on flights to/from the airport.
