As a leader at JFK, JetBlue’s new routes to Belize and St. Kitts are part of JetBlue’s strategy to continue to grow in under-served geographies while bringing more choices and options for our customers. JetBlue will now serve 29 countries from JFK and will offer an average of up to 192 departures per day during peak periods.

Tailwind Air to restart summer operations on April 14 between Boston Harbor and New York Manhattan Seaplane Base

Tailwind Air, the only operator of scheduled seaplane service in the Northeast, reopens for the season on April 14th at Boston Harbor (IATA code: BNH) and Manhattan’s Skyport Seaplane Base on East 23rd Street (IATA code: NYS).

It also announces the launch of its newest seaplane route, Boston Harbor to Nantucket Airport (IATA code: ACK). The new Nantucket route will commence operations on May 17th, 2023, and will provide travelers with a unique and convenient travel option to one of the Northeast’s most popular summer destinations.

For the past two years, Tailwind Air’s travelers have enjoyed a nonstop seaplane flight directly from Manhattan’s New York Skyport (IATA code: NYS) on East 23rd Street to Boston Harbor (IATA Code: BNH), where a dedicated, seven-minute water taxi transfers clients to the South Boston waterfront. Regular 2x daily-peak timed departures resume April 14th, 2022 and flights are approximately seventy-five minutes to and from Boston. Select seats are available from $395 each way.

With the launch of the new route, Tailwind Air is expanding its network of seaplane routes from Manhattan and Boston, which already includes destinations like Provincetown, the Hamptons, and more. The company plans to resume flights to Washington DC this fall.

The pet-friendly airline uses modern Caravan Cessna EX turboprop amphibian aircraft for all flights. Flights feature two pilots and crowd-free direct access to the aircraft, with passengers needing to arrive just 10 minutes before scheduled departure time.

Lufthansa has announced it will reactivate the Airbus A380 on two routes from the Munich hub.

The Munich – Boston will see the Airbus A380 on June 1, 2023.

The Munich – New York-JFK route will follow on July 4, 2023.

The airline issued this statement:

From June 1, Lufthansa will resume its regular flight operations with the popular Airbus A380 after a three-year interruption. Daily flights from Munich to Boston will be operated by LH424. Just in time for Independence Day, the U.S. national holiday, an A380 with the flight number LH410 will take off daily for New York to John F. Kennedy International Airport from July 4, 2023. The airline is thus noticeably expanding its premium offering at its southern hub, especially with additional seats in Business and First Class.

With 509 seats, the A380 has around 80 percent more capacity than the Airbus A340-600 currently flying on the Munich-New York (JFK) route. In total, the A380 offers four classes of travel: 8 seats in First Class, 78 seats in Business Class, 52 seats in Premium Eco and 371 seats in Economy Class.

By the end of 2023, a total of four A380 aircraft will again be deployed from Munich.
