Global Airlines acquires its first Airbus A380 from Doric Aviation

Global Airlines (UK) has big plans.

The proposed airline issued this statement:

Global Airlines, the world’s newest long-haul airline, has made a significant leap towards revolutionising commercial aviation with the acquisition of its first Airbus A380 aircraft from Doric Aviation.

As the first ever operator to start flights with the super jumbo, Global Airlines aims to redefine the travel experience for passengers across all travel classes. The airlines first transatlantic flights are expected by Spring 2024.

Unlike other new airlines, Global Airlines, with significant backing from investors and parent company Holiday Swap, has chosen to acquire its first aircraft from Doric Aviation rather than opting for the traditional leasing route. Through a partnership with Doric Aviation, Global has successfully secured its inaugural A380, marking a significant milestone towards the realisation of its ambitious plans. The airline is already making progress in adding more A380 aircraft to its fleet, with three more acquisitions expected to join the fleet in the coming months.

The A380, the linchpin of the emerging Global fleet, will transport passengers back to the ‘Golden Age of Air Travel’ with its unrivalled spaciousness and reinvigorated flying experience in every cabin. With the acquisition of the A380, the airline is positioned to provide passengers with an exceptional journey, showcasing its commitment to becoming the preferred choice for long-haul travel.

The acquisition of the A380 by Global Airlines was made at an undisclosed price, understood to be in the eight-figure range, demonstrating the airline’s dedication to acquiring top-quality assets and investing in its future success.

The airline is expected to formally launch this summer and to outline in detail its passenger proposition, a number of unique industry partnerships, as well as future route networks and growth aspirations.

Lufthansa announces new long-haul destinations for the winter

Lufthansa is launching new Airbus A380 destinations from Munich in the coming winter. From October 5 on, the airline will be flying again an A380 daily to the Californian metropolis of Los Angeles. Shortly before the start of the winter flight schedule on October 28, there will be a special premiere: For the first time, a Lufthansa Airbus A380 will take off from Munich to the Thai capital Bangkok, increasing the seat capacity by almost 75 percent compared to the A350. Lufthansa offers a greater premium product on this connection than ever before: the A380 offers 8 seats in First Class, 78 seats in Business Class and 52 seats in Premium Economy.

New connections to India

Lufthansa is expanding its service to India. The new destination from Munich is Bangalore, which, in addition to Delhi and Bombay, will be served by an Airbus A350. LH764 departs Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:10 p.m.  to the southern Indian metropolis. Lufthansa guests will be able to enjoy one of the Lufthansa Group’s most modern and economical long-haul aircraft, the Airbus A350-900. After a longer break, Lufthansa will also include again Hyderabad in its flight schedule from Frankfurt. This will once again provide a direct connection from Germany to India’s pharmaceutical and high-tech industries. Lufthansa will announce further details in midMay.

Lufthansa will offer a total of five destinations to  the Indian subcontinent from its two hubs in Frankfurt and Munich in the coming winter.

Emirates to offer daily flights to Toronto from April 20

Following the breakthrough expanded air transport agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Canada, Emirates is stepping up its frequency with two additional flights per week between Dubai and Toronto. From April 20, 2023, daily flights will operate on the busy route to serve huge demand for passenger services.

The move comes as bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and Canada have enhanced significantly, with both countries set to reap vast economic benefits across a multitude of sectors and supply chains.

Emirates operates the flagship A380 aircraft on the Dubai-Toronto route, allowing 491 passengers across Economy Class, Business Class and First Class on each flight. With the two additional flights per week, Emirates will offer close to 2,000 additional seats to serve the busy route, representing a 40% increase in capacity between its hub city of Dubai and the Canadian point. The Dubai-Toronto route is highly popular amongst customers from India, UAE, Bangladesh, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka while the same countries represent top destinations for travellers from Toronto.

Emirates to launch first Airbus A380 service to Bali

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, will deploy its signature Airbus A380 aircraft to Bali starting from June 1, 2023, marking a milestone in Indonesia’s aviation history as the first scheduled A380 service to the country.

The new 2-class Emirates Airbus A380 service will replace one of the two daily services to Bali currently operated by a 2-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The airline’s debut A380 flight EK368, will depart from Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 03:25 hrs, arriving in Denpasar International Airport (DPS) at 16:35 hrs local time. The returning flight, EK369, will depart Bali at 19:40 hrs, arriving in Dubai at 00:45 hrs local time. All times are local.

Airbus A380s

Emirates launched a nonstop daily service from Dubai to Bali in 2015, adding to its scheduled flights to Jakarta which began in 1992. The airline has so far operated more than 49,000 flights and carried over 9 million passengers between Indonesia and Dubai. Emirates currently serves Indonesia with 28 weekly flights to both Bali and Jakarta, and offers increased connectivity to 29 more domestic cities via the two gateways through its partnership agreements with both Garuda Indonesia and Batik Air.

On a two-class Emirates A380 aircraft, passengers are offered 58 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 557 generously pitched seats in Economy Class. Customers traveling to and from Bali can look forward to enjoying Emirates’ spacious and comfortable cabins; signature products that offer travellers the best experiences in the sky like the Onboard Lounge, as well as regional cuisine including a number of Indonesian dishes. ice, Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system offers more than 5,000 channels of on-demand entertainment with a wide selection of Indonesian content.

Emirates continues to expand its A380 network to meet increasing travel demand globally. The airline’s flagship aircraft is currently deployed to 41 destinations, including Dubai and is likely to expand to nearly 50 destinations by the end of the summer.

Lufthansa reactivates the Airbus A380 for the Munich – Boston and Munich – New York-JFK routes

Lufthansa has announced it will reactivate the Airbus A380 on two routes from the Munich hub.

The Munich – Boston will see the Airbus A380 on June 1, 2023.

The Munich – New York-JFK route will follow on July 4, 2023.

The airline issued this statement:

From June 1, Lufthansa will resume its regular flight operations with the popular Airbus A380 after a three-year interruption. Daily flights from Munich to Boston will be operated by LH424. Just in time for Independence Day, the U.S. national holiday, an A380 with the flight number LH410 will take off daily for New York to John F. Kennedy International Airport from July 4, 2023. The airline is thus noticeably expanding its premium offering at its southern hub, especially with additional seats in Business and First Class.

With 509 seats, the A380 has around 80 percent more capacity than the Airbus A340-600 currently flying on the Munich-New York (JFK) route. In total, the A380 offers four classes of travel: 8 seats in First Class, 78 seats in Business Class, 52 seats in Premium Eco and 371 seats in Economy Class.

By the end of 2023, a total of four A380 aircraft will again be deployed from Munich.

Korean Air reactivates the Airbus A380 for the Seoul – Taipei route

Korean Air has re-introduced for just few weeks its double-decker Airbus A380 on the Seoul (ICN) – Taipei (TPE) route, coming back on the post-COVID operation after more than three years.

HL7621 is welcomed back at Taoyuan Airport in Taipei with the traditional water canon salute!

Lufthansa to base three Airbus A380s in Munich

Lufthansa is gradually bringing back its grounded Airbus A380s.

The flag carrier will base three A380s at its its Munich hub for flights to New York (JFK), Boston and Los Angeles starting in June.

The airline will begin refresher training in Hannover and Leipzig in May.

Six A380s will return to service. The other 8 will remain in storage (for now) at Teruel, Spain.

LH is also bringing back 10 remaining Airbus A340-600s for the summer season.

Lufthansa reactivates its first Airbus A380 (D-AIMK)

Lufthansa made this announcement:

Under the special flight number LH9922, the first reactivated Airbus A380 D-AIMK departed Frankfurt in the early hours of this morning for LH Technik Manila site. Here it is being made fit to take off again as a regular passenger aircraft in the summer.

Emirates’ salute to the Real Madrid team

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline and Official Main Sponsor of Real Madrid, welcomed the Spanish football club onboard a specially chartered Airbus A380 flight from Madrid to Riyadh on January 9, 2023.

The iconic double-decker aircraft featured a new livery with some of the club’s top players.

The club made their way to the Saudi capital ahead of the Spanish Super Cup semi-final match versus Valencia on January 11, 2023. 

The bespoke decal includes a group shot of renowned Nacho Fernández, Dani Carvajal, Thibaut Courtois, Karim Benzema (center), Luka Modrić, Tony Kroos and Vini Jr and covers more than 125 square metres on each side of the aircraft. The decal will remain on the A380 aircraft for five months with scheduled services around the world including London Heathrow, New York and Melbourne. 

Emirates has been the Official Main Sponsor of Real Madrid since 2013 and the first decal featuring the club players first appeared on an Emirates A380 in 2015. The airline recently announced it will remain the Official Main Sponsor and Official Airline Partner of Real Madrid until 2026 – making this a historic partnership and the longest shirt sponsorship in the history of LaLiga.

Emirates’ extensive sponsorship portfolio has made it one of the most recognized airline brands in the world of football. The airline continues to engage with fans worldwide, create meaningful experiences and offer world-class experiences in the air and on-ground. Real Madrid fans from around the world can snap a picture of the new A380 decal as it makes its way around the globe to nearly 40 Emirates A380 destinations.

Emirates launched operations to Madrid in 2011 and currently serves the city with a daily flight utilising its iconic double-decker A380 aircraft.
